We will be partnering with Vida Joven Nicaragua. It is the Young Life Camp in Nicaragua. SMPC has close ties with this ministry – in 1988 Jim and Sarah Hornsby (SMPC Members) began building friendships with Nicaraguan youth in order to introduce them to a life long relationship with Jesus Christ. Since its beginning, it has grown to include more than 60 clubs in 10 different cities. Vida Joven Camp is also called La Finca and is located in the most mountainous region of Nicaragua. It’s 154 acres; the high altitude of this area makes the camp an ideal place for growing coffee. The proceeds from selling this gourmet coffee provide funding for a Nicaraguan youth to go to camp for one day. We will be working at this camp for the week. In addition to that we will have the opportunity to do a home stay with a Nicaraguan leader on the front end of the trip and will have a team day together on the back end of the trip.

We will be partnering with Resurrection Sheepshead Bay church in Brooklyn NY. This partnership will allow us to work directly with and serve in the Summer Enrichment camp which is an outreach ministry of Resurrection Sheepshead Bay. Along the way we will take in the many sights of the Big Apple. Below is an overview of the work we will be taking part in throughout the week.

Summer Enrichment Camp (SEC) is an outreach of Resurrection Sheepshead Bay that seeks to help kids maintain their educational progress and keep their academic skills fresh during the summer months. Volunteers are not trained teachers, they are people who love kids and want to provide an environment for them to practice and strengthen what they already know through drills, games, activities and experiments. SEC will also give children a structured place for summer fun and creative arts. This document provides information for those planning to assist with this program in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.
