2016 Chattanooga Middle School Mission Trip
June 27 – July 2
Hi Parents & Friends!
We have had a marvelous week on the Middle School Mission Trip with a local mission ministry, Son Servants. We stayed at Harrison Bay State Park and served local ministries in the Chattanooga area – Widows Harvest, Project 52, Art 120 & Taking Root Community Garden.
These middle school students have been absolutely incredible all week long! You all have reason to be very proud of the way they’ve served each other & the men & women in the Chattanooga area in the name of Christ. They have been great ambassadors for God’s Kingdom. It has been my, Camille’s, privilege to be among them.
We’ve been with two other churches – one from Fort Myers, FL & the other from Roswell, GA. All the students have become fast friends and you’d never know who’s from what church.
Our days are very full, here’s an overview of what our days look like. Each day the students are up by 6AM, sitting down for quiet time by 6:30AM, eating breakfast at 7AM, morning session at 7:30AM, heading out to worksites at 8:30AM & working until 3:30PM, back at camp we have free time until dinner at 6PM, evening session at 7:15PM & we end the night with family time.
The work has been labor intensive and mostly all outside – mowing yards, painting houses, gardening & major yard clean up!
The theme for our week this year has been ‘Shift’ and we’ve been hearing teaching on The Greatest Commandment found in Matthew 22:34-40 & The Parable of the Good Samaritan found in Luke 10:25-37.
Friday is our last work day and we’ll end out our time tomorrow morning ‘debriefing’ together. Would love for you to be praying for that time.
I would like to give special recognition & a big thank you to the leaders who have made this week possible – Jennifer McCall, Jennifer Johnson, Catherine Payne, Mary Wright, David Wilson & Jacob Noorbergen. These men & women have truly ‘been with’ your students all week. Loving them, caring for them, worshipping with them, encouraging them, listening to them, sharing wisdom & serving right alongside them. I am grateful for their example of faith and their sincere joy to share in life with these students!
Below are some pictures from our week together:
