STUDENT MINISTRY UPDATE

NEW! Something to celebrate… After a really long search process, we are excited to share with you that we have hired a new Co-Director of Student Ministries in Guys’ Discipleship! His name is Jackson Clemmer, and he comes to us from the Pittsburgh area. He will join our staff and work alongside Camille Ward in leading our student ministry.

Most of y’all know that Jimmy Latham left that position almost two years ago and Camille has wonderfully carried it since then. We added Jesse Schwindt in January 2020 as our first resident position, and we are hoping to add a female staff person in 2021 for our next resident.

This was a very humbling two years in searching for the right candidate, but we could not be more pleased that the Lord led us to Jackson – and Jackson to us. He has a passion for the good news of Jesus, absolutely loves working with students, and carries a lot of gifts in teaching and growing relationships that point to Jesus. It’s a perfect fit with our vision to present every student with the transforming gospel of Jesus, equipping them to live in his love and serve in his name.

Jackson writes: “ I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, where I grew up attending a Presbyterian church with my parents and older sister. Outside of my parents, the youth ministry of my home church has had the greatest influence on my walk with Christ. After high school, I landed at Grove City College in western Pennsylvania, where I met a beautiful and very outdoorsy girl named Martha, and eventually convinced her to marry me. It worked, and we got married in June of last year! I love rock climbing and music, especially bouldering at Little Rock City and writing songs about Martha. Martha and I are SO excited to get to join the community at Signal Pres. Throughout our visit, we were struck by how much everyone we talked to loved being a part of Signal Pres. Most of all, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to spend this next season with students, and to “tell the old, old story” of the God who was crucified that we might live with him.”

We’ll welcome them when he starts the last week of August and find creative ways to introduce him to many of you. These are super challenging times for figuring out how to gather and go forward while weighing the risks. But our commitment to Jesus and his message has not changed, and we embrace the challenge of doing whatever it takes to make sure everyone within our reach hears it. I’m so glad Jackson is joining Camille, Jesse, and dozens of our adult and student leaders who devote themselves to that mission. Pray for us! With love for all you students and families
