SM2 Students are having a great time at BigStuf!
Update from late 6/20
This has been a week lived to the fullest! It is hard to put into words, but I am overwhelmed with thankfulness for this time we’ve had with the students. Last night BigStuf concluded. This morning we rose early and headed to Universal Studios spending the day riding roller coasters, getting our faces painted & drinking Butter Beer at Islands of Adventure! We are tired & stinky but it was great fun!
We are heading home early tomorrow morning! YAY! Vacations are fun but Signal Mountain is home! Can’t wait to see you at Signal Pres, welcoming your students home after experiencing a heart & life changing week. Know that we will be praying that the good fruit that has been produced over this last week will be fruit that lasts and goes on to produce more good fruit!
Yesterday (Monday) was a long but great travel day! We left Signal Pres at 6am! To all the parents who sent us off what a blessing & encouragement it was to see you all circled up praying for us as we left the mountain! It was a beautiful picture of what it looks like to be surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.
We arrived in Daytona a little after 6pm – got checked in and settled, had dinner and made it to the BigStuf opening session at 7:30. This included wonderful worship, a message from Jon Acuff, Small Group Time and an evening concert with LeCrae.
Today (Tuesday) started with a morning session including worship, a message from Jon Acuff and small group time. Then we enjoyed an afternoon of free time – playing in the pool, water slides, riding ocean waves, making up dances in condos and much more! I wish I could put into words the appreciation I have for you, parents, in allowing Jimmy & I & the rest of the leaders the opportunity to spend this week with your students. It is so special, watching new friendships develop & existing ones strengthen; hearing the ways God is working in their hearts & the takeaways they share after listening to a speaker; having ample time to be with your students being silly, laughing & forming those you-just-had-to-be-there inside jokes; and on a more serious note, the opportunities that arise when we are privileged to be with your student listening to them & gaining a deeper glimpse into their heart & life.
Thank You, we love them so much!
Update from late 6/18/
Hi Family & Friends! It’s been another great day in Daytona! This summers theme for BigStuf has been Story. We’ve been challenged with the idea of not trying to get God in our story but instead asking the Lord to put us in His story? Recognizing that our story is ultimately for His story.
Last night SM2’s very own Jack Tucker was called up on stage to participate in a sing off with 2 other students and he didn’t disappoint! He belted out “Let It Go” and had everyone on their feet singing and cheering! To top it off he was the winner!
We are also so grateful that after not being able to travel with us on Monday because of a stomach virus Charlotte was able to fly down and join us for the rest of the week!
We love you all and appreciate your prayers!
